Funding from bottle drives, coffee sales, and generous donations made adventures like the Beavers (5-7) snowshoeing, helping get the Cubs (8-10) out camping, and making it possible for the Scouts (11-14) and Venturers (15-17) to get to national and international events.
In July 2024, the 85th Lakeview Scouts sent a group of 11 to the Pacific Jamboree in Sooke BC. This included one Venturer who attended as an OOS (Offer of Service), donating their time to work at this once in a lifetime event.
There were 3,700 youth, Scouters (leaders), and volunteers who were part of this week of adventure and teambuilding. Our group had an amazing time.
This is only possible with your support and we are busy planning for the next big adventures which include:
Rovent 2025 - Cambie Creek, BC
World Jamboree 2027 - Gdańsk, Poland
Pacific Jamboree 2028 - Sooke, BC
Look for the 85th Lakeview Group at local events this year including:
North Glenmore Christmas Craft Market
Lakeview United Church Garage Sale
Lakeview Fun Day
A Scout Jamboree is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get together with thousands of other youth, often from around the world, learning, creating new friendships, and continuing to build teamwork and leadership skills. International, national and continental jamborees held around the world.
The 1st World Scout Jamboree was held in 1920, and was hosted by the United Kingdom. Since then, there have been twenty-three other World Scout Jamborees, hosted in various countries, generally every four years. The 26th World Jamboree is to be held in Poland in 2027.
"The average Scout life is a comparatively short one, and it is good for each generation of Scouts to see at least one big rally, since it enables them to realize their membership of a really great worldwide fellowship, and at the same time brings them into personal acquaintance with Scouts of other districts and other countries."
